If you have been reading this blog for any length of time then you probably have already determined that I have a genuine love for the Disney Boardwalk area. First opened in 1996, the Disney Boardwalk circles Crescent Lake near the entrance to Epcot’s World Showcase. The Disney Hollywood Studios are a 20-minute walk from the Boardwalk.
The Disney Boardwalk houses four luxury resort complexes – the Disney Boardwalk resort, the Yacht Club, the Beach Club, and the Swan and Dolphin complex. Two Disney Vacation Club resorts (The Boardwalk Villas and Beach Club Villas) also reside here.
The Boardwalk is always bustling with activity. Street performers bring free entertainment to Walt Disney World guests. There are carnival games, clubs, dance halls, restaurants, and the unmistakable ringing of bells from Surrey bikes which guests can rent to ride around the Boardwalk. A large lighthouse marks the entry and exit point for resort boats at the Yacht and Beach Clubs. There is the ESPN Club, and the dueling pianos of Jellyroll’s. Kouzzina (formerly Spoodles) features famous chef Cat Cora.
One of my favorite things to do at night at The Boardwalk is to grab some gourmet ice cream from Beaches and Cream, and then sit back and watch the fireworks from Epcot Center’s Illuminations over the top of the ESPN Club.
You are always at the center of the action at the Disney Boardwalk. Besides everything there is to do on the Boardwalk itself, Epcot Center is a short walk away and The Disney Hollywood Studios can be reached by resort boat in about 10 minutes. The Boardwalk area is a major reason I prefer to stay at the resorts which circle Crescent Lake.
