Review: Disney's Grand Floridian Resort and Spa

The first time we saw it, we couldn’t believe our eyes. “We’re staying here?” My wife and I chose the Grand Floridian at Disney World for our honeymoon in 1997. We knew it was a beautiful resort, but nothing could prepare us for the incredible Victorian architecture towering over us as we arrived on site. From that moment on, the Grand Floridian has never failed to take my breath away. We were treated wonderfully by the cast members of this resort. I don’t think we will ever forget how welcome they made us feel, or how many surprise gifts we found waiting for us in our room every night. Disney cast members are known for being friendly and courteous, but nobody has ever made us

Disney World Transportation Tips

“So why are we traveling across country in the family truckster, Dad?” “Because Rusty, getting there is half the fun!” Lucky for all of us, transportation around Walt Disney World is usually much easier than roaming across the country with the Griswolds. However getting from here to there can be a bit of a challenge if you aren’t headed to the parks. Disney does a terrific job with its gratis transportation system, but there are some areas where they could make things easier on guests. For instance Disney encourages its guests to sample its award-winning restaurants. But how do you get to the Flying Fish Cafe at the Disney Boardwalk if you are staying at Coronado Springs? What if you are staying at Animal Kingdom

The resort complex is compiled of 11 village longhouse themed buildings, and holds an impressive 847 rooms. The Great Ceremonial House is the main building in the complex, holding the reservation desk, several shops and restaurants, a waterfall, and living tropical plants and coconut palm trees. The Polynesian is referred to as a monorail resort, due to its connection to the Disney monorail system. Considered a Deluxe Disney resort, the Polynesian

Grand Floridian DVC Expansion

Disney Vacation Development Inc. confirmed this winter that the Disney Vacation Club (DVC) will be expanding to the Grand Floridian. The new Grand Floridian villas are slated to open in late 2013, and will mark the 12th DVC property. An estimated 147 villas will be part of the new DVC property. What is particularly significant about the proposed new DVC property is that it will be the second located along the monorail. For many years, DVC members clamored for a property choice that was part of the Walt Disney World monorail resorts. Their wishes were granted on August 4, 2009 when the Bay Lake Tower villas opened as part of the Contemporary resort. The soon to open Grand Floridian expansion not only gives DVC members

Disney's Contemporary Resort

Disney’s Contemporary Resort opened on October 1, 1971 as the flagship resort of the new Walt Disney World resort in Florida. The original design was a collaboration project between U.S. Steel and famous architect Welton Beckett (Santa Monica Civic Center, Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center). Since 1971, several more luxury resorts have opened to feed the demand for additional resorts on property. But to this day, the Contemporary remains one of the most popular Disney resorts, and a living vision of Walt’s Promise of Progress City. The Contemporary’s main building is the unmistakable A-frame tower which can be seen from several miles away. The Disney monorail system runs through the A-frame into what is known as the Grand Canyon Concourse. This magnificent building houses the
