Tips for Renting DVC Points

As we recently discussed on our blog and on our Facebook page, prices at Disney World are rising rapidly and outpacing inflation significantly. Therefor we all look for new ways to save money when planning a Disney vacation. We love to stay on site, and we prefer deluxe resorts. But we also recognize how expensive these resorts have become. Is there any way to save significant money on a deluxe resort? Thankfully, the answer is yes. For frequent visitors to Disney World who enjoy moderate and deluxe resort accommodations, joining the Disney Vacation Club (DVC) is an investment worth considering. However DVC requires a significant financial investment, and arguably a time investment too. Once you commit to DVC, you will need to visit at least

Valuing Our Bay Lake Tower DVC Purchase

Since late December we have been planning a potential Disney World vacation, as outlined in a recent article. The final decision of where or whether to stay with Disney this year is not finalized. However we did make a big decision by purchasing shares of the Bay Lake Tower DVC resort. Today I will lay out how we personally valued the purchase. Disney Vacation Development Inc. confirmed this winter that the Disney Vacation Club (DVC) will be expanding to the Grand Floridian. The new Grand Floridian villas are slated to open in late 2013, and will mark the 12th DVC property. An estimated 147 villas will be part of the new DVC property. What is particularly significant about the proposed new DVC property is that it will be the second located along the monorail. For many years, DVC members clamored for a property choice that was part of the Walt Disney World monorail resorts. Their wishes were granted on August 4, 2009 when the Bay Lake Tower villas opened as part of the Contemporary resort. The soon to open Grand Floridian expansion not only gives DVC members
